If you want to use dental insurance to help cover some of the cost of having braces, you should sign up for dental insurance before getting the braces put on. The reason for that is most dental insurance plans exclude benefits for work currently in progress. If you have current dental insurance check with the plans benefits to confirm your coverages. Some plan do not offer benefits for orthodontic treatment yet it is offend assumed they do.
